Explore Devon & Dorset

Glebe is in the lovely Coly Valley two miles from Colyton, which has one of the last remaining Tanneries in England, just behind the Jurassic coast. A lovely Coastal Path goes through the old fishing and smuggling towns of Beer and Branscombe and on to the Regency town of Sidmouth, also famous for its Folk Festival week.

Inland is the lace town of Honiton with its antiques and markets, leading up to the Blackdown Hills, designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. From there you can go further north to Exmoor and the North Somerset Coast, or to the Somerset Levels and the Quantocks and Mendips.

Further West is the cathedral city of Exeter, the Historic Port of Topsham and the Exe Estuary. Excellent sandy beaches can be found at Exmouth and Dawlish Warren, and the Teign Valley will take you up onto Dartmoor.

To the East it is easy to explore Hardy Country and the Marshwood Vale in Dorset, with the fossils at Charmouth and Lyme Regis, and the Abbotsbury Swannery and Chesil Beach.

Things to Do

We have information on where to go, and what to do, in the hall. We are are a mine of information as we have been here since childhood!

Eating out

There are a lot of good pubs offering a choice within 3 miles of Glebe. There are also two very good local breweries and cider makers!
